About Mount Sequoyah

Mount Sequoyah is a welcoming, 100-year-old mountaintop retreat in the heart of Fayetteville, Arkansas. We are a place to connect with people, land, and spirit. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, we welcome guests, artists, retreat groups, campers, and neighbors of every background to stay, gather, create, and give back, with everything we do rooted in hospitality, diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Our Mission

Mount Sequoyah exists to welcome people to our historic mountaintop and to nurture connection with one another, with the land, and with spirit. For more than 100 years, we have provided a place of rest, reflection, creativity, and community for guests, artists, retreat groups, and neighbors of every background. Through our lodging, gathering spaces, arts programs, and youth camp, we sustain this land as a shared home for Fayetteville and beyond, open to all people in a spirit of welcome, diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Our History

Mount Sequoyah was founded in 1922 by the Methodist Church as a gathering place atop one of Fayetteville's highest points. Over the past century, it has grown from a church retreat into a vital community hub — home to The Overlook, one of Northwest Arkansas's most recognized landmarks, and a cornerstone of the local arts community. Today, Mount Sequoyah is an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit, carrying that century of welcome forward for a new generation of guests, artists, campers, and neighbors.

What We Do

Stay & Gather. Our lodging, meeting spaces, and The Overlook host retreats, conferences, weddings, and family gatherings — with revenue from every stay and event reinvested directly into our nonprofit programs and preservation work.

Arts & Creativity. Our Clay Studio, artist residencies, and exhibition spaces support working artists and bring public arts programming to Northwest Arkansas, making Mount Sequoyah a vital member of the Fayetteville arts community.

Camp & Recreation. Camp Sequoyah and Rainbow Arts Camp introduce children to the outdoors, creativity, and community each summer, alongside recreational amenities open to the public, including the Mount Sequoyah Pool.

Community. Through Friends of the Mountain and other giving programs, donors and volunteers help ensure Mount Sequoyah remains open, accessible, and preserved for the whole community.
